2.3.1. General information

Fig. 2.182. Flowchart of the cooling system of the engine: 1 – the bringing radiator hose; 2 – the taking-away radiator hose; 3 – the bringing cooling system pipe; 4 – thermostat; 5 – pump of cooling liquid; 6 – a throttle branch pipe (the operating idling mode plunger); 7 – engine; 8 – the bringing heater radiator hose; 9 – the taking-away heater radiator hose; 10 – radiator

The cooling system consists of a stopper of a radiator, a radiator, a broad tank of the cooling system, hoses, the pump of cooling liquid, the fan of the cooling system and the thermostat. Radiator of tubular and lamellar type.

ATTENTION
Do not remove a radiator stopper for check of level of cooling liquid of the engine, check level visually through transparent walls of a tank of the cooling system. Cooling liquid has to be added only as required.

Description of cooling liquid
While the cooling system is under pressure, temperature of cooling liquid can be much higher, than temperature of boiling of solution in a radiator whereas boiling does not happen. Removal of a stopper of a radiator of the hot engine with a high pressure in system will lead to instant boiling of cooling liquid, perhaps, with an explosive force, and to emission of liquid on the engine, wings and the person who uncovered. If cooling liquid contains flammable antifreeze on a spirit basis which is not recommended for application, then there is a potential possibility of the serious fire.
Before removal of any element of the cooling system be convinced that liquid to the cooling system of the engine cooled down.
Also before removal of any element of the cooling system be convinced that disconnected a negative wire from a conclusion of the rechargeable battery.
The cooling system operates in the usual way. Cooling liquid in a radiator extends when heating and partially merges in a broad tank.
When the system cools down, cooling liquid comes back to a radiator.
The cooling system is filled at the plant with qualitative cooling liquid which represents 50% mix of water and antifreeze on the basis of ethylene glycol.
These 50% solution of cooling liquid provide protection against freezing at temperatures up to -36 °C.
Maintain the specified concentration of solution to provide protection against corrosion and loss of cooling liquid against a vykipaniye. The specified concentration has to be maintained even if at operation negative temperatures are not expected.
Add in system coolant on the basis of ethylene glycol if the level of liquid went down owing to loss of coolant or it is necessary to provide protection against freezing at temperatures below -36 °C.

NOTE
In the cooling system antifreeze on the basis of ethyl alcohol or methanol or only clear water as it can lead to damage of the cooling system should not be used.
Antifreeze has to mix up with the desalinated or distilled water.

Filling volume of the cooling system
Engine, radiator and radiator of a heater: 6,50 l.
Broad tank: 0,40 l.
Total: 6,90 l.
