2.3.5. Check of the thermostat

Be convinced of purity of the valve for production of air 1 of the thermostat.

If the valve is littered, the engine will overheat.
Make sure that on a saddle of the valve there are no pollution which interfere with dense closing of the valve.
Check consolidation of the thermostat 2 for existence of damages.
Check work of a thermoelement of the thermostat as follows:
– ship the thermostat 1 in water and gradually heat water;
– you will check temperature of the beginning of opening of the valve.
Temperature began opening of the valve of 80-84 °C.
Temperature of full opening of the valve of 95-97 °C.
Height of raising of the valve: more than 8 mm at 95 °C.

If the valve begins to open at a temperature significantly below or higher than temperature of the beginning of opening, the thermostat it is necessary to replace new. At reuse of such termosatat the engine will overheat or overcool.
