2.1.4. Engine vacuum check

Vacuum which is formed in the soaking-up engine branch pipe is the good indicator of a condition of the engine.

Procedure of check of vacuum of the engine
Warm up the engine up to the normal working temperature.

NOTE
After warming up of the engine transfer the gear shifting lever to neutral situation (the selector lever in situation "P" for models with the automatic transmission), slow down the car the parking brake system of set and record driving wheels.

Stop the engine and switch off all electric switches.

Fig. 2.13. Cover of an inlet collector

Uncover 1 an inlet collector (fig. 2.13).

Fig. 2.14. Connection of the vacuum manometer

Connect the special tool (the vacuum manometer) to an inlet collector (fig. 2.14).
Start the engine and leave it to work with the nominal frequency of idling and consider indications of the vacuum manometer. The size of vacuum has to be in the specified limits.
Vacuum size (at sea level): 59–73 kPa with a nominal frequency of idling.
After check disconnect the special tool from an inlet collector.
Establish a cover on an inlet collector.
