6.1.3. Check of height of a pedal of a brake

To check brake pedal height. If it does not meet standard, check and adjust the following: point and 3).
Height of a pedal of a brake of "a" from a floor: 222–242 mm.

Check distance between the landing surface of the amplifier and the center of an opening under a pin. At repeated installation of a fork of a pusher of the amplifier it is important to execute adjustment (see. "Check and adjustment of the amplifier of brakes").
Check position of the switch of a signal of braking. Adjust its situation if it differs from norm.
Check a pedal for a bend.
Check correctness of installation of the amplifier of brakes.
Check length of a pusher of the amplifier of brakes.

The free wheeling of a pedal has to be, as shown below. If the free wheeling differs from norm, check position of the switch of signals of braking and adjust in case of need. Also check a gap of a bolt of a pedal and a pin of the amplifier of brakes and replace defective parts (fig. 6.7).
Free wheeling of a pedal of a brake "and": 1–8 mm.

Check of the course of a pedal
Start the engine.
Press a brake pedal several times.

At the pedal of a brake pressed with effort of 300 N measure distance of "a" from a brake pedal to a floor (fig. 6.8). If the distance of "a" is less than norm, then wear of back brake shoes or air in a hydraulic system is the possible reason. If the distance of "a" remains less norm even after replacement of brake shoes and removal of air from system, then malfunction of regulators of a gap in back brake shoes or the wrong adjustment of length of a pusher of the amplifier of brakes can be other possible, but infrequent cause.
Remove air from the brake system. See." removal of air from the brake system".
Remove brake drums for check of a condition of regulators of a gap. If necessary replace.
Distance of "a" between a pedal of a brake and a floor: more than 110 mm.

Check of the main cylinder and level of brake fluid

Check the main cylinder and the tank for existence of cracks, damages and leak of brake fluid. If there is a nesipravnost, eliminate it or replace defective parts (fig. 6.9).
Check the level of brake fluid – it has to be between tags "MOVE" and "MIN" on the tank.

NOTE
Make sure that it is used corresponding brake fluid as it is designated on a cover of the tank of the car or it is recommended in the operation manual on the car. Use of any other liquid is forbidden.

Level of liquid has to be between tags of "MIN" and "MAX" on the tank.
If the emergency signaling device of the brake system sometimes lights up at the movement of the car, add liquid to a tag "MOVE".
If liquid level quickly falls, check the brake system for existence of leaks. Eliminate thinnesses in system and again add liquid to a tag "MOVE".

ATTENTION
Do not use liquid for shock-absorbers or any other liquid which contains mineral oil. Do not use a container which was used for mineral oil or water. Mineral oil causes swelling and deformation of rubber details in system of the hydraulic drive of brakes, water when mixing with brake fluid lowers a boiling point. You hold all containers for liquids the closed covers to prevent their pollution.

Adjustment of the switch of a signal of braking

Adjustment has to be made as follows. Lift a brake pedal up and adjust position of the switch so that the gap between the end of a carving part of the switch and a pedal of a brake met standard. After that fix the switch having turned it clockwise (fig. 6.10).
Gap between a pedal of a brake and the switch of signals of braking "a": 0,5–1,5 mm.
