2.5.12. Removal and installation of the fuel tank

Dump fuel pressure in the giving fuel-supply line.

Disconnect a wire from a negative conclusion of the rechargeable battery.

Uncover a jellied mouth of the fuel tank.

Insert a hose of the manual pump into a hose of a jellied mouth 1 and pump out fuel in the place of "A" in the figure 2.240.

ATTENTION Do not insert a hose of the manual pump into the fuel tank with effort as the hose can damage the inlet valve of the fuel tank 2.

Lift the car on the elevator.

Remove the muffler.

Remove the driveshaft No. 2 (if иметеся).

Remove the filter of system of catching of vapors of gasoline with an arm 1 from the car (fig. 2.241).

Disconnect a fuel hose of a jellied mouth 1 and a ventilating hose 2 from a jellied mouth of 3 (fig. 2.242).

ATTENTION Never disconnect a hose of a jellied mouth from the fuel tank. If the tank is filled more, than half, then in this case the passage of fuel is possible. As the tank is not equipped with a drain stopper, remove fuel having pumped out it through a jellied mouth. For pumping out of fuel use the manual pump.

ATTENTION Do not insert a hose of the manual pump into the fuel tank with effort as the hose can damage the inlet valve of the fuel tank. Never merge and you do not store fuel in open capacity, for prevention of a possibility of the fire or explosion.

Disunite fuel-supply lines. For quick-detachable connecting couplings: disconnect as follows:

Remove dirt and dust from a junction of a tube 1 and the hinge with a stream of compressed air.

Unblock the coupling lock 1 special tool.

Disconnect the coupling 2 from a tube of 1 (fig. 2.243).

ATTENTION A small amount of fuel can flow out after a detachment of a fuel hose. to reduce risk of getting injured, close the place of a detachment of a hose from a tube a piece of fabric. After a detachment of a fuel-supply line put the fabric impregnated with gasoline in a special container.

Prop up the fuel tank 1 jack 2 and turn off bolts of its fastening (fig. 2.244).

Lower the fuel tank a little to disconnect the socket of a plait of wires 1 and connection with the mass of a body, then remove the fuel tank (fig. 2.245).

If from the fuel tank separate elements were taken out, install them into place before installation of the fuel tank on the car.

Lift the fuel tank 1 jack and connect the socket of the fuel pump and burn down connections with the mass of a body, fix a plait of wires by a collar.

Install the fuel tank on the car.

Moment of an inhaling of a bolt of the fuel tank (a): 50 N · m.

Attach a fuel hose of a jellied mouth 1 and a ventilating hose 2 to a jellied mouth, as shown in the figure 2.246 and reliably fix by collars.

Moment of an inhaling of a collar of a hose of a jellied mouth (a): 1,5 N · m.

Attach the giving fuel-supply line 1, a returnable fuel-supply line 3 and a ventilating tube 2 to the tubes shown in the figure 2.247 and reliably fix them by collars.

ATTENTION At connection of the coupling clear external surfaces of a tube on which the coupling will be installed, insert the coupling into a tube before click of the lock of the coupling and check reliability of connection, otherwise, in this place there can be a leak. Do not allow contact of hoses of supply of fuel and a plait of conducting of the sensor of anti-blocking system of brakes (if is available).

Install the filter of system of catching of vapors of gasoline with an arm on the car.

Install the driveshaft No. 2 (if is available).

Install the muffler.

Connect a wire to a negative conclusion of the rechargeable battery. Without starting the engine, include ignition and be convinced of lack of leak of fuel.

After removal of the fuel tank, check the hoses and tubes connected with the fuel tank for existence of leaks, weakening of connections or damages. Also check laying of the fuel pump for existence of leaks, visually check the fuel tank for existence of leaks or damages. Replace all details having damages or being in unsatisfactory technical condition.
