5.2.19. Removal and installation of the steering mechanism

Removal
Pump out liquid from the tank of the hydraulic booster of steering by the syringe.

After removal of a cover of the hinge weaken the top bolt of 1 steering shaft and turn off the lower bolt of 2 (fig. 5.57).

ATTENTION
Before performance of the following operations be convinced that forward wheels are in provision of the rectilinear movement, the key is taken from the ignition lock; Otherwise the contact spiral of system of passive safety can be damaged.

Establish forward wheels in provision of the rectilinear movement, remove a gear wheel and the lower hinge.
Lift the car on the elevator and remove wheels (right and left).

Take out the forelock 3, then turn off a koronchaty nut of draft of 2 (fig. 5.47).

Using the special tool, a vypressuyta a tip of steering draft 2 of a rotary fist of 1 (fig. 5.48).

NOTE
For models with the drive on two wheels, execute operation a) – for all-wheel drive models. Operation b) – execute for models with the drive on four wheels.

Operation "and"
Remove an exhaust pipe No. 2.

Remove a back support of the engine 1 together with an arm 2, then remove a cross-piece of a support of the engine 3 (fig. 5.58).

Operation "b"
Remove an exhaust pipe No. 1 and No. 2.
Disconnect the right and left spherical finger of levers of a forward suspension bracket, then remove a power shaft, using the kapron hammer for weakening of a lock ring on the right side of the transfer case.
Turn off bolts of the hinge of the forward driveshaft 1.

Turn off nuts of back fastening of the engine 2 and remove a stretcher of a suspension bracket 4 from a body (fig. 5.59).
Remove right 5 and left the 6th amplifiers of the transfer case, turn off bolts of fastening of the transfer case, then remove the transfer case 3 from the transmission (fig. 5.59).
Disconnect tubes 3 and 4 цил.от cases of the steering mechanism, using a cap wrench (fig. 5.59).

NOTE
Collect the following liquid in a container or muffle tubes.

Disconnect the pressure head pipeline 1 and a hose of low pressure 2 from the steering mechanism, using a cap wrench (fig. 5.60).

NOTE
Collect the following liquid in a container or muffle tubes.

Turn off bolts of fastening of the steering mechanism and remove the steering mechanism.

Installation

Installation of the steering mechanism is made as it should be, the return to removal, taking into account following (fig. 5.61).

ATTENTION
At installation of the lower hinge of steering in a shaft of a gear wheel be convinced that the steering wheel and forward wheels are in provision of the rectilinear movement.

Inhaling moments
Bolt of fastening of the case of the steering mechanism (a): 55 N · m.
Nut of a tube of the cylinder (b): 25 N · m.
Nuts of tubes of the high and low pressure (c): 35 N · m.
Koronchaty nut of a steering rod end of draft (d): 45 N · m.
Top steering shaft and lower connecting bolt (e): 25 N · m.

Check on the car of a cover of a steering rack

Check a cover for existence of cracks and damages which can become the reason of corrosion, hit of dust or leak of jellied lubricant (fig. 5.62).
