2.2.21. Dismantling and assembly of pistons, piston rings, rods and cylinders

Dismantling
Using a dilator of piston rings, remove two compression rings (top and the second) and an oil scraper ring from the piston.
Take out a piston finger from a rod.

Fig. 2.132. Removal of lock rings of a piston finger

Remove lock rings of a piston finger 1, as shown in the figure 2.132.
Vypressuyte piston finger.

Assembly
Check conrod bolts for deformation existence.

Fig. 2.133. Extraction of a piston finger

If the conrod bolt is deformed, use a new rod.

Fig. 2.134. Installation of a piston finger, rod and lock ring

Establish a piston finger in openings of the piston 1 and a rod of 2 (fig. 2.134).
Oil engine a piston finger and openings under a piston finger in the piston and a rod.
Establish a rod, as shown in the figure 2.134.
To install a piston finger in the piston and a rod.
Establish lock rings of a piston finger 3.

NOTE
The lock ring has to be established as it is shown in the figure 2.134. Establish a lock ring so that the gap in a ring was in the range specified by an arrow.

Install piston rings on the piston.

Fig. 2.135. Scheme of installation of piston rings

As shown in the drawing tags of "T", respectively have the 2.135, 1 and 2nd ring. At installation of piston rings on the piston the marked party of each ring has to be turned towards the piston bottom.
The 1st ring 1 differs from the 2nd ring 2 on thickness, a form and color of a surface of contact with cylinder walls.
Difference of the 1st ring from the 2nd is shown in the figure 2.135.
At installation of an oil scraper ring 3, at first establish a dilator, and then two rings.

Fig. 2.136. Correct position of locks of oil scraper rings: 1 – arrow; 2 – lock of the 1st piston ring; 3 – lock of the 2nd piston ring and dilator of an oil scraper ring; 4 – lock of the top oil scraper ring; 5 – lock of the lower oil scraper ring

After installation of all rings (the 1st, 2nd and oil scraper ring), focus their locks, as shown in the figure 2.136.
