1.6.45. Towage of the faulty car

For prevention of damage of the car during towage appropriate equipment and the correct methods are necessary.

Front-wheel (2WD), automatic transmission
Cars with the automatic transmission can be towed, using one of the following methods.
In front, forward wheels are hung out. Before towage release the parking brake.
Behind, back wheels are hung out, and under forward the cart is substituted.

Towage of the car with the forward wheels sliding on the ground can lead to damage of the automatic transmission.

Front-wheel (2WD), manual transmission
Cars with the manual transmission can be towed by one of the next ways.
In front, forward wheels are hung out. Before towage release the parking brake.
Behind, back wheels are hung out, and lobbies on the earth provided that steering and the power transmission are correct. Before towage be convinced that the transmission in a neutral, the steering wheel is unblocked (the ignition key in the provision of "ASS"), and the steering wheel is recorded by means of the device for towage.

The steering column is insufficiently strong to bear the blows transferred from forward wheels during towage. Before towage unblock a steering wheel.

All-wheel drive (4WD)
One of the next ways can tow the car.
All wheels are hung out (the car is shipped on a platform).
Forward or back wheels, under the others – the cart are hung out.

Towage of the car with the forward and (or) back wheels sliding on the ground can lead to damage of the automatic transmission and (or) drive on wheels.

The starter does not work
Turn the ignition key on "START", having included headlights to define a condition of the battery. If light is weakened or disappears at all, the battery is usually discharged or has bad contact on plugs. Charge the battery and check its plugs.
If headlights shine brightly, check safety locks. If at the same time the cause of defect does not become clear, the serious malfunction can take place.

The engine "peresosat"
Too rich mix can complicate launch of the engine. Press an accelerator pedal up to the end and hold it in such situation when scrolling the engine. Do not include a starter during each purge more than on 15 pages.

The engine overheats
Under difficult road conditions the engine can quickly overheat. If the index of temperature or the indicator of an overheat during the movement show an overheat, switch off the conditioner (the additional equipment), put the car in the safe place, let's the engine work several minutes idling until temperature becomes normal, i.e. the arrow of the index will not be located between "N" and "With".
If you see or will hear a steam-out, stop in the safe place, you suppress the engine and let's it cool down. Do not open a cowl if from under it there is steam. If steam is not visible any more, open a cowl and check whether still cooling liquid boils. If yes, before further steps wait that until boiling comes to an end.
If temperature does not fall to norm, kill the engine, check, not a povra of a zhdena and whether slip a belt and pulleys of the drive of the pump of the cooling system of the engine. If yes, repair.
Check liquid level in a tank. If it is lower than the lower mark, look whether the radiator has leak, the water pump, hoses of a radiator and a heater. If there is a leak – the possible reason of an overheat – do not launch the engine, do not eliminate it yet.
If there are no leaks, carefully add cooling liquid to a tank and then to a radiator if it is necessary.

It is dangerous to open a stopper of a radiator or a broad tank of the diesel when cooling liquid hot because the boiling liquid and steam can escape under pressure from under it. The stopper can be removed only after liquid cooling. You do not enter hands, clothes and the tool into fans of cooling of the engine and the conditioner (the additional equipment). They can join without the prevention.
