1.6.6. Use of the transmission (4-speed automatic transmission)

Overdrive switch
The box has 4 speeds (3 speeds and an overdrive gear – an overdrive). At the switched-off overdrive the box becomes 3-speed, and the overdrive gear will not join. For switching off press the switch and release it. The button will rise, and on the dashboard the indicator "O/D OFF1 will light up.
For return to the 4-speed mode press the overdrive switch again. The O/D OFF indicator at the same time will go out.
After turn of the ignition key in the provision of "ASS" in a box the 4-speed mode is restored.
The three-speed mode is suitable for the following traffic conditions:

– driving on twisting roads in the hilly area – the course more exactly, is less than switchings in a box, the movement on abrupt descent – is provided some braking with the engine.

Switching lever
The lever of switching is supplied with the blocking allowing to prevent casual inclusion of a backing ("R"), inclusion "low 2" from situation "movement" ("D") and "low 1" ("L") of "low 2" ("2"). For an unblocking press before switching to the button sideways of the switching lever.

The car can be equipped with blocking which does not allow to bring the switching lever out of position of the parking ("Р") if during pressing of the button of blocking on the lever the brake pedal is not pressed.
Always press a brake pedal before inclusion of the movement (including a backing) from the parking "Р" or a neutral of "N" – if the car is not mobile for prevention of casual start-off during switching.
For normal driving be convinced that the O/D OFF indicator does not burn, and after that install the switching lever in situation "D" (movement). Automatic inclusion of lower transfer in a box is reached by pressing an accelerator pedal. The car speed is higher, the more it is necessary to press a pedal in order that such transfer joined. Use other provisions of the lever according to told below.

"Р" (parking)
In this situation the transmission is blocked during the parking or launch of the engine. You translate the lever on "Р" only after a full stop of the car.

"R" (backing)
Use this situation for the movement by a backing from a condition of a full stop. Before inclusion of a backing be convinced that the car is not mobile.

"N" (neutral)
Situation is used for launch of the engine which decayed during the movement. If the car keeps - a brake, it is possible to include a neutral and during the operation of the engine idling.

"2" ("low 2")
Situation is used, for example, rising by the steep slope or for braking by the engine on descent.

"L" ("low 1")
Situation is used for ensuring the maximum traction effort, for example, at the movement on very steep slope, through deep snow and dirt, and also when braking by the engine on abrupt descent.

NOTE
If the lever is installed in the provision of lower range of speeds at a speed of the movement above most allowed for this range, switching will not happen until the speed of the movement decreases to provided.

ATTENTION
Strictly observe precautionary measures which will allow you to avoid damage of the automatic transmission:
– before installation of the lever on "Р" or "R" be convinced that the car is not mobile;
– do not switch from situation "P" or "N" to "R", "D", "2" or "L" if turns of the engine are higher than idling turns;
– do not "increase speed" at the lever installed in situation "R", "D", "2" or "L" and motionless forward wheels;
– do not hold the car on a bias the engine. Apply brakes.
